Older Worker Services

Older workers are the fastest growing segment of the US population. By 2012, mature workers are estimated to represent 40 – 50% of the US workforce, according to various sources. Older workers bring to a job the wisdom and perspective that come from years of experience. They are known for their strong work ethic and sense of responsibility, yet they often find it difficult to re-enter the workplace after job loss.

Workforce Central works in partnership with both Operation A.B.L.E. and Catholic Charities Senior Employment Service to offer mature workers assistance in re-employment, including coaching and counseling, internships, job referrals, on-the-job training at non-profit and government agencies and much more.

In response to popular demand, as part of our Workshop to Work Series, Workforce Central Worcester offers a monthly workshop Using Age to Your Advantage.

To participate in these specialized services for older workers, you would first attend a Career Center Seminar, and then ask our Career Team for a referral.

On September 22, 2011, the Executive Office of Elder Affairs and the Executive Office of Workforce Development honored four Career Centers at a State House awards function for their efforts to train and place older workers.
